People are 3D printing their own protective equipment
With hospitals and all corners of healthcare struggling to keep up with demand for personal protection equipment, people are being forced to get creative.
From his home in Muskegon, Chris Kaminsky is doing his part. With a small arsenal of 3-D printers, he’s making his own face shields with designs he found online.

With 3D printers and sewing machines, group creates masks & face shields for Muskegon seniors, health care workers, and others
When BoomTown Market owner Dana Precious started the “Muskegon Sewing Circle of Love” Facebook group about one week ago, 18 people immediately signed up. Then, there were 50 individuals within 24 hours. One hundred in 72 hours. Now, there’s 138. And that number continues to grow.
From homes throughout Muskegon, the members of this group are turning to their sewing machines and 3D printers to make masks and face shields for a community facing the coronavirus that is spreading across Michigan.

The Fab Lab at MCC – Innovating Safety With 3-D Printing
There are those among us though who have special skills sets as well as tools to make things and minds that can innovate ways to get things done when traditional methods are maxed out or caught off guard. There’s some of that going on in Muskegon right now! Follow the Lakeshore Fab Lab on Facebook
Chris Kaminsky is the head of the Fab Lab at Muskegon Community College’s Sturrus Center and while the facility isn’t currently buzzing with innovators, inventors, students and tours…there is a remarkable amount of technology sitting there and knowing Chris…there’s not going to be a moment wasted when it comes to finding a way to get them to work to help out the greater good.
